    Change mechanisms

Month 2 using Brian Eno’s famous Oblique Strategy cards as a basis to paint a picture

This time it was ‘use different mechanisms’.

For this months effort I took the easy way out and changed to using acrylic paint which is soooooo much easier to use than pastel or oil. Acrylic gives a lot more instant satisfaction as you can just paint over your mistakes within a short time of making them!

My favourite story of all time is a Christmas Carol for many different reasons. The painting is an alternative Jacob Marley in which instead of chains to symbolise his evils on earth, I have his sins spilling out of his head! I really enjoyed using the luminous orange paint I found and to be honest the painting was an excuse to use that.

    Emphasising repetition

My mate Matt and I have a started a project between ourselves where we use a random generator to pick one Brian Eno’s famous Oblique Strategy cards and then paint a picture from that within a few weeks.

This time it was ’emphasise repetition’.

My effort was based on a photo I found from a few years back when film photos apps were all the rage, the picture duplicated my image joining me at the specs. In the end it looked nothing like me but I still enjoyed painting it.
